【Early Spring of Yoshimi Hill, Yoshimi Town】
  Mar.2002 Oil Painting 15F 53.0×65.2cm Lakhan
There remains several historical sites around the Yoshimi-Hill, which occupies certain
part of Hiki-Height of Musashino, such as ruined Castle of Matuyama, ancient burial place
called "Hundred Caves of Yoshimi", artificial pond and booming rock called "PonPon
Yama" and over which we can find well maintained copice woods of oaks where a slim old man
with wild footwork and well tarined discipline used to be working there.
It was the spring of 2002 that I placed an easel with canvas in this wood along the lane
to draw this picture. In that year the spring passed about one month earlier than usual
so that the cherry blossom was close to its end and budding is turning to fresh leaves.
I started painting a litle earlier than six o'clock in the morning and soon after
the sun rose drawing the shadows of trees over the lane so clearly.
